Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru
"Wildebeest migration and the "pink" lake"
Wedneday 1st September - Wednesday 15th September 2010
9 days Maasai Mara and 3 days Nakuru
Trip full
We shall travel to Nakuru and to the Maasai Mara, which in our view are the very best locations that Kenya has to offer the wildlife photographer. The timing will enable us to witness what is said by many to be the greatest migration on earth.
Nakuru is world famous for offering the wildlife spectacle of more than 2 million flamingo, in addition to these magnificent birds, it is also home to pelican, cormorant and African fish eagle. In addition the Park is famous for its population of black rhino, Rothchild's giraffe, hyena (these hunt the flamingo). It is also an excellent location for leopard.
Our visit to the Mara is timed to witness the sweeping waves of plains' game and their attendant predators. Our camp is strategically located in a prime area for the migration. We should encounter wildebeest and zebra in their thousands, elephant, buffalo, Maasai giraffe, antelope and gazelle. Predators include lion, cheetah, leopard and the recently re-established African hunting dog.
